Bombing down Deer Creek Canyon around 3pm Sunday on my other favorite silver speed machine (at least downhill), titanium Airborne road bike, when one, then many custom 350Zs, some with CONOC stickers, were rolling up the hill followed by what I assume is Eric P's white Nismo. I was wearing a green sleeveless jersey, white/blue helmet, flashing a shaka when passing.

Look forward to meeting people and checking out those awesome custom Nissans!

Cheers,
John

Bummer, hope you they let you go with a warning. Was it up the canyon or elsewhere? I like to know where they hang out.

No, I'm a firm believer in letting people get where they want to go as quick as possible whether it's on a bike or in a car. Unfortunately there are too many A holes, on bikes and in cars, who don't abide by this rule and think they own the road.

The law is that bikes have to travel as far right as feasible (i.e. frequently road debris prevents us from staying all the way right except 1) when making turns or to move out of turn lane when not turning then bikes can enter the flow of traffic, and 2) on one way streets bikes can stay far left (i.e. usually to make a left hand turn). Automobiles must give cyclists a minimum of 3 feet when passing, when safe, and they can legally cross the double yellow center line when doing so. Cyclists are required to follow the rules of the road, same as cars, with the exceptions above.

The key thing is to be courteous and share the road. Sometimes cars and bikes conflict and you have to slow down and wait to pass or turn. I've been held up and have passed cars going down the canyon. I was cut off yesterday by a guy pulling out, unintentionally, but fortunately I could tell he didn't see me and I hit the brakes early. The absolute is cars weigh 3000+lbs and will always win the battle no matter who has the right of way.

Please don't intentionally buzz a cyclist, we are all someone's son or daughter. Also, if they get your license plate you might expect a visit from the local authorities.

I do agree though that there are cyclists who don't follow the rules, impede traffic unnecessarily, threaten the safety of themselves and others, and foster greater animosity between cyclist and drivers.

i know those rules but a car is ten times the size of a bike, i don't buzz them or any of that **** but when ppl ride in the middle or double its dumb.

Near Evergreen, not in the canyon. Although we saw plenty between 285 and 70.
