Andrew,
Are you keeping some stuff in stock now? If so, what besides the 5w-30?

Also... bump. AMSOIL makes Mobil 1 look like a gas station generic.

I'm interested but don't know much about synthetics. Oddly enough the my last oil change at Firestone they said they put a "synthetic blend" in and it's what they use all the time now. ??

^

spend some quality time on bitog (bobistheoilguy.com)

they were very helpful in my decision to switch to synthetic, I just recently did my 2nd synthetic oil change, using pennzoil platinum, which I recommend as well.

A syn blend is a conventional oil and a syn blended to make a better oil. It has a better wear protection, but not as good as a full syn. Now there are higher end syn and lower end syn. AMSOIL is one of the top tier syn oils on the market. It allows you to run extended drain intervals (25K miles :) ) and have better protection at low temps as well as high temps. Also, the less friction your motor has on internal parts, the long it lasts and the better it performs.

Do people really drive 25k miles on their oil?! Jesus christ...

I'm at 1000 miles on my in my Spec and itching for a change. I like to keep things ridiculously fresh, haha. If I waited for 25k miles to go by, I'd be in my 40s and rolling a granny car...

^ yea they do. and it save quite a bit of money. You can do 1 year intervals for people who don't drive that much. :)

Eh, I am just a bit too anal about maintenance for that personally...

It's funny, because every time I send in samples to Blackstone they always write back "You can do longer intervals next time," even on my 5000 mile daily driver samples. Hahah. I'm giving them frequent business, and they still write that. Silly them.

So once I go synthetic I have to stay with it right? I just turn 100k any issues?

no issues if your over 100k. Your drain intervals are a bit shorter but not much!
