So I was cruising up I25 right past Santa Fe and heard a nice VQ, I looked around and saw a really clean G35, looked like it had Gram Light R57GTs and sounded like either Basinni or some other exhaust.

The guy had custom plates that read "Cortana".

At that time that G was running the stock 18's that he had powder coated black and the exhaust is borla. I have the vortech kit for it on my garage ::driver::

Sweet! This is so cool that people know each other like this! Before we know it- all the Nissan enthusiasts will be on CONOC and know each other! Very cool! Thanks for spreading the word!

Any chance you have a picture of the stock rims powder coated black--we've been considering doing that to the wife's car. thanks.

Here are some before and after Pix...

Keith @ CarStar hooked me up on the Powder Coat... $125-$150 per wheel.

These are OEM Wheels with a 80% gloss. If you are going to powder coat go with a 80% gloss. They always look clean.

Rockin some 006's right now Black w blue lip

Honk if you see me rollin by.

I should be at the meet on the 17th with my newly supercharged G-35 (2007).

Yup that wheel option might be in store for the wife's car. BTW you have the VQ35HR in your 07 right, what supercharger are you going with and is it a custom setup?

I am going with the Vortech V-3 Self Lubricating Full Kit. I am doing a pretty standard install. I am adding it to a very nicely naturally aspirated Engine...
CAI, MREV Lower Plenum/Spacer/HiFlo Cats/ 2.5 inch Borla true Dual Exhaust.

I am putting it on the Dyno this weekend to get a baseline before we S/C.
I think I will product 325+ at the crank... 260 ish at the wheels...

After I S/C I am looking for 490+ at the crank and 350+ at the wheels...

I am going to do an upgrade later this summer to get well over 500 hp

Hmm I was unaware that any 07 came without the HR but http://wardsauto.com/reports/2007/tenbest/nissan_3-5L_V-6/
says a few models came with the DE--interesting, learn something new every day:)

I believe the DE was only in the most basic of models but I could be wrong...

My understanding was that the DE made more torque... So I went out looking for one... I got lucky and found a great mechanic and a great deal on a 07' in the same place.

I can't wait to see what we do on the Dyno Saturday...

VQ35HR "The VQ35HR update was first seen in the US in the 2007 G35 Sedan models, which debuted in August 2006. Nissan updated the VQ line with the addition of the 3.5 L VQ35HR (for "High Revolution" or "High Response"). It produces 315 PS (311 hp/232 kW) (US market: 306 PS (302 hp/225 kW) due to new US federal measurement regulations) at 6,800 rpm and 37 kg·m (363 N·m; 268 ft·lbf) at 4,800 rpm, using a compression ratio of 10.6:1. It has NDIS (Nissan Direct Ignition System) and CVTC with hydraulic actuation on the intake cam and electromagnetic on the exhaust cam. Redline is 7,500 rpm. Reportedly over 80% of the internal components were redesigned or strengthened to handle an increased RPM range sporting a lofty 7,500 rpm redline. A new dual-path intake (two air cleaners, throttle bodies, etc.) lowers intake tract restriction by 18 percent and new equal-length exhaust manifolds lead into mufflers that are 25 percent freer flowing for all around better gas flow. The new intake is said to benefit from a ram-air effect adding three horsepower at 60 mph (not accounted for by SAE testing methods). The electrically actuated variable valve timing on the exhaust cams to broaden the torque curve is new over the "DE" engine. The new engine block retains the same bore and stroke, but the connecting rods were lengthened and the block deck was raised by 8.4 mm to reduce piston side-loads. This modification, along with the use of larger crank bearings with main bearing caps reinforced by a rigid ladder-type main cap girdle to allow the engine reliably rev to 7500 rpm. With an increase in compression ratio from 10.3:1 to 10.6:1 these changes add 6 more horsepower (306 total + 3 hp ram air efect not measured by SAE testing = 309 hp). Peak torque is up 8 pound-feet from the old "DE" engine (260 vs. 268) and the torque curve is higher and flatter across most of the rpm range, and especially in the lower rpm range.
Are you sure you don't have things swapped around? this is some info from what i could gather...

I'm the one working on this so it HURTS to say it. But I'm guessing 230-235 max at the wheels with the altitude the car being a automatic and the type of dyno import sports uses. Probably 310-315 after the charger. Then after the upgrades probably 360ish at the wheels. I say that cause the other G I did a vortech on got that with about the same mods before and after upgrading. Will be interesting to see what the difference from 18's to 19's will affect to And really 490 crank should be closer to 400 not 350 whp:p. Over 500 with a vortech is TOUGH with out doing crazy cooling mods and change the cog setups. Like I said brian I can see you getting bored of even the upgraded setup and wanting more ;)

Part of me hopes I get slapped in the face with higher numbers though. lol

Yep the 07 sedan got the HR, the coupse kept the DE until the 37 was released. Vortech didnt even know that, so thats why they never released a 07 specific kit. We'll be putting on a 06 kit, but the cars are identical to each other mechanically.
